Very nicely restored w/o overdoing it. I like the older humpback trunks....4 trunks so far. 1st smaller one was kinda bad shape, wood intact and did a nice stain/sealer on inside. 2nd bigger one, just slight touch up. 3rd one was so intact in and out -close to perfect, I just used Murthy's on outside, only one that has a key. 4th one from 1890's black leather humpback and inside 2 trays and dropleaf in top were completely apart. Restored leather but got it too soft and mold started growing due to where it was stored. Ended up a thin black lacquer coat to stop mold. Latch plate was ripped out of front caused it was locked and no key. Mostly restored just need to finish touches on outside. That was my retirement project. Even though I got old wallpaper, haven't used it, not right trunk yet. Learned alot watching you and Thomas Johnson. Keep up the great videos.

Wow, the caning is amazing. I can cane, but am a novice. Glad my dining room chairs don't show their seams! I improved as I went along, but I am sure one is gooped up with glue, and the last of the six chairs has no glue and just weaves. But the back of that chair is amazing. I learned from you to file and drill out the holes after the fact, and perhaps the cane size was too wide. I matched what was there, but smaller might have been easier. Thanks for this video! And best to you and the new shop opening this week! Hardware was hard today - always enjoy your videos to calm down. Thanks so much!

@JohnsFurnitureRepair thanks for the lesson. It's a shame the beautiful back won't be seen. You are very good at disguise...it's your super power...lol. I have a suggestion for the new shop. You should create a hidden room with a bookshelf opening! You could have a bit of quiet time in Trena's treasure room!

Amazing! My family has had the larger version of this same cabinet (With the slide-out whiskey tray), but I've never seen another like it. These were indeed made in Eastern Canada. I'm glad I found this video because it looks wonderful and doesn't need refinishing. The player itself has some damage, and now I know how to do what I need to fix it. Thanks so much!

Hi Trina. I’ve been drawn to your fantastic videos and can’t get enough of them. I’m just starting in furniture restoration and find your work inspiring. This cabinet is an excellent example of your very fine work. Keep it up. I’ve noticed that your paint stripper is very effective but it looks very watery, mine is very gel-like. Can you tell me what the stripper is please? Thanks. Jim

What a great video. I have just finished renovating a Victorian longcase which was a bit of a mess, but not anywhere near this level of expertise and skill. I am trying to get hold of a decent painted dial and would love to attempt a restoration like yours. A fantastic end result and a very inspiring video.

Congratulations! You have a floor, you can walk around rather than climb over. The sections are organised and in a couple of days the sign can be flipped to OPEN. There may be some tweaking, but it is looking good and will keep you going until the next needed organisation. At least that one won't be a forced and sudden downsizing. I wonder if there be a fight, er discussion, over this space now that it is insulated. Music Room, Teenage Retreat, storage room, garage, or something else. I am so glad you took some "me time" and gave yourself a bit of a holiday as well. It's a very important part of life that often gets shoved to the side. I wish I could have helped more on the Go Fund Me, but you have my prayers, virtual hugs and very grateful thanks. With the quick glance at the work you have on hand, I found myself being most excited to see the work on the smallest 3 pieces, the plant stand and the two small tables. Looking forward to the grand opening of August 2024.
